I certainly figured that the end of the semester would mean more time to run and get in good quality workouts.... And it probably would if I hadn't been told that Netflix has the entire series of "How I Met Your Mother." Typically I am able to pry myself away after 6 episodes, but I really wish I could get my runs in during the early AM. Oh well... I am trying not to be so rigid, especially in the first month of training. Otherwise, it might be a very long road to Boston. Running, for me, has almost always been enjoyable. I say "almost always" because there were certainly some workouts back in college that were not fun.... but I know many people find this notion crazy. For me, I'm like the little kid that needs to be "run" in order to mellow out. I sleep better when I run, I think better when I run, and I just feel better when I run. It is not masochistic for me, but rather, cathartic. I get that most do not understand this, but that is also why the "crazy running community" is tight-knit.... we have an understanding of the enjoyment that comes with running.
Anyways, enough of that... With the New Year upon us, many of you may be considering adding a new (four-legged) member to the family. I would encourage you to explore adoption. We've had a fantastic first year with our handsome little man, and I know that years from now we will rescue again. With the BTRNC they made sure that Bobby was being placed in a home that was suitable for both him and us. We appreciated the time and effort that the rescue took with ensuring that him and all of their rescues will end up if what will likely be their 'forever home.' So there is my little sermon on rescuing... Chloe, as you may know, is our diva dog that I got from a breeder when I was 21. She is fantastic, very healthy, and I am glad she is mine, but I would rescue if I had been more aware of the option. And speaking of Chloe, the pic I will attach to this post is her with me after the OBX Marathon in 2010. We rented a dog- friendly beach house so that we could bring her along to the race. There was nothing like coming back after the 26.2 miles to an eager Boston terrier (and a hot tub... and a cold beer)!
Happy Holidays!! And Happy New Year!

Gearing Up
Hello Friends!!
Now that my semester is winding down I am taking the opportunity to get various items ready for Boston4Bostons. I am in the process of figuring out how to link the pledge forn to this blog, so bear with me, and training officially began after Thanksgiving. I can already tell that one of my barriers to training will be the cold weather, uggh! I know I cannot complain residing in Georgia and all, but I am very much a fair- weather outdoor exerciser. I will be keeping you posted on how the training is coming and I will post some of my favorite Boston terriers pics and videos on this blog to remind you how special these dog are.
Thanks for the support everybody! You will be hearing from me soon!
